Pilot of the Year Competition: Bomb Drop

Wednesday July 22nd @ 5:00 pm & Saturday July 25th @ 2:00 pm

Each round of the Pilot of the Year Competition will be run on 2 calendar days:

Wednesday 5:00 PM and Saturday 2:00 PM weather permitting.

Each round of competition will result in a winner.

At the end of the year the overall winner will receive the Pilot of the Year award.

Competitors can enter on the Wednesday or Saturday of each round.

i.e.  if you cannot make the Wednesday competition you can do the Saturday competition, or vice versa, but you can’t do both.

Airplane to be used. Drone / Helicopter are forbidden.

 

Prizes are:

Discount voucher for NADMAS membership to the winner of each round of the competition.

Discount voucher for NADMAS membership to the overall winner of the competition (Pilot of the Year award).

 

Bomb Drop

The target area will be marked out.

  1. The bomb must weigh no more than 56 Grams and must be totally free of any guidance system.

Only one bomb to be released during any one attempt. “Cluster” bombing forbidden.

 

  1. The contest will consist of 2 rounds. For each round the pilot must take off and complete one circuit overflying the target area. (For trimming & lining up purposes.)

 

  1. The pilot then has up to two circuits in which to drop their bomb.

 

  1. The bomb must be released from a height of between 10 and 30 feet, with the aim of it being to land within the marked-out area.

 

  1. After bomb release, pilot should circuit and land.

 

There will be two rounds for each pilot and their final score will be the total from both rounds.

Points will be awarded as follows:-

15 Points for the bomb landing in the centre area               2.5mtrs x 2.5mtrs

10 Points for the bomb landing in the next outer area         5mtrs x 5mtrs

5 Points for the bomb landing in the outside area             7mtrs x 7mtrs

1 Point for the bomb landing on the runway outside the marked area.
