NADMAS Training Day & BBQ 5th October 2024

October 5 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

NADMAS Training Day
5th Oct 2024

Dear Member

As you know NADMAS is a club affiliated to the BMFA. As an affiliated club we fully support and promote the BMFA operating guidelines and the RC Achievement Scheme.

The aim of the RC Achievement Scheme is to encourage RC model flyers to improve their standard of flying and safety. It is important to appreciate that the scheme is not primarily about permitting or licensing. Fundamentally, the scheme is all about personal goals and challenges.

It is intended to provide every RC flyer with something to aspire to and work towards.

The scheme provides a framework of training and assessment to award Proficiency Certificates as an acknowledgement of the level achieved.

Achievement awards are available at ‘BPC’ (Basic Proficiency Certificate), ‘A’ (basic) and ‘B’ (advanced) levels for a wide variety of disciplines: –

  • The Basic Proficiency Certificates provide a measure of competence for pilots operating fixed and rotary wing aircraft fitted with stabilisation technologies.
  • The ‘A’ Certificate may be equated to a basic standard of safety and flying competence.
  • The ‘B’ Certificate is designed to recognise a more advanced pilot’s increased ability and knowledge and demonstration of a high level of safety.
  • Specialist ‘C’ certificate endorsements are also available to ‘B’ certificate holders.
  • An FPV extension is also available to holders of any Basic Proficiency, ‘A’ or ‘B’ certificate.

NADMAS are holding a Club Training Day from 11:00am. and BBQ.

This day is for those members who wish to increase their flying skills and progress towards taking one of the achievement tests, or just find out more about what is involved. All are invited to come along.

The NADMAS ‘Constitution, Flying and Safety Regulations’ requires all members to fall within the categories mentioned in section ‘3. Persons Entitled to Fly’.

(a) Current member whose approval as pilot dates from before 1st May 1984.

(b) Member who have joined since 1st May 1984 and have passed the test for BMFA ‘A’ Certificate.

(c) Any other member flying under the supervision of a club instructor authorised by the Training Coordinator.

As a committee we are starting to address this requirement more proactively.

Whereas we are aware we have a few people that are currently under supervision and are working towards the ‘A’ certificate, we are interested in encouraging those individuals that have not yet undertaken any steps towards achieving certification.

We would like those members who have not yet got their ‘A’ certificate to be actively working towards certification to at least ‘A’ standard, based on the discipline they fly (i.e. Fixed Wing, Helicopter, Multi-Rotor, Silent Flight), as soon as possible.

If you are interested in the BMFA Achievement Scheme Training & Testing day and BBQ

please make sure you have the following: –

  • A suitable aircraft to take any test or practice with*;
  • A reasonable knowledge of club safety and BMFA safety requirements.

All this information can be found within the NADMAS web pages.
