Spot Landing

The target landing area will be marked out as in the diagram above.

  1. Start with the a/c ready on the runway and the pilot standing in the pilot’s box. The pilot will open the throttle and the stopwatch is started.
  2. The pilot’s airplane will take off and climb for 30 seconds at which point the pilot will be told to cut the throttle and perform a dead stick landing, with the aim being to land with the wheels first touching the runway within the marked areas.
  3. Any pilot who causes his a/c to nosedive, making a heavy landing sustaining damage or landing so fast that the a/c leaves the ground again, will be disqualified for that round.

Each pilot will have two attempts.

Points will be awarded as follows:-

15 Points for landing in centre area             2.5mtrs x 2.5mtrs

10 Points for landing in the middle area    5mtrs x 5mtrs
